Even
though the name implies more than
one person, behind the FCB letters
it's only one face, Kevin. As one
of the Chi main guys, his musical
taste are really broad, just like
the label's preferences: from minimalHouse
through breakBeat and other dance
music to experimental, including
dub, headz, broken beat, house,
techno, electro, breakbeat - you
name it. As DJ, Kevin mostly spins
midtempo dance music (breakbeat,
electrohouse, tech house, broken
beat, electro, minimal), but this
is not a limiting factor when it
comes to working in the studio,
purchasing "non-party"
records or playing a radio set.
His taste is determined more by
his musical attitude and not by
any specific genre: he looks for
music that's experimental but not
selfish, new but not unlistenable,
with lots of percussive rhythm and
deep grooves.
Apart
from appearances at Chi, Kevin has done
a remix for the popular Hungarian band Quimby,
he worked on remixes for the swiss Ritmic
Records, and the dutch Moving Target. As
DJ, in the last years he has played with
almost all the big names of the breaks scene
on his residencies: the weekly Chi nights
(Ablak-A-Dubra) and Cinetrip parties. Supported
also DJs from other genres, like Lemon8,
Ollie Teeba, Richard Thair (Herbalizer)
or DJ Nukem. His first 12" (Deep Lack
Of Balance) opened 6th on Muzik Magazine's
breaks chart, and his remix for the swiss
Ritmic label (The Boomspot) reached 4th
on Mixmag's breakbeat chart. And finally
don't forget that his tracks are spinned
by top DJs like Orbital, Plump DJs, Chris
Carter, Breakneck, or Adam Freeland. Recently
he won the "Best hungarian breaks DJ"
award on the biggest internet mag's voting
(Impulsecreator), although he is not playing
more breaks than any other genres.
